Bromham Conservation Group Volunteers

If you are interested in improving the natural habitats in Bromham’s many nature areas then this group is for you.

Bromham Conservation Group helps look after a number of sites across Bromham parish, undertaking voluntary tasks such as coppicing trees, cutting back pathways, wildflower meadows, building nesting areas, building hedges, gates, fences and bridges to clearing brooks and looking after the Community Orchard.

We meet three times a month and cover a number of nature sites in the village including Bromham Mill, Bromham Lake Local Nature Reserve, Salem Thrift and the Parklands area including the Community Orchard and Paddock Pond.

There are also opportunities to volunteer at Bromham Mill and help tackle a wide range of tasks (after training) – from maintaining the mill machinery and giving demonstrations to mending benches and creating decorations for the Mill for an Easter event/Fairy Day/Spooky Times/Christmas. Help is also needed to maintain the Woodland Fairy Walk, create fences where needed around the site, lay bark on paths, create garden areas, cut back reed beds or undertake light coppicing. There is a regular weekly slot for this work at Bromham Mill from 13:30 to 15:30 on Mondays – meeting at the volunteer barn near the Woodland Fairy Walk.
